Common Orthodontic Problems:
#1 Overcrowding
Both children and adults suffer from overcrowding and there is more than one way to address the problem. You either need to remove some of the teeth or you need to create more room in your palate by expanding it. Both are viable options; so we will let you know which one would work best during your exam and consultation in our 07631 office.
#2 Crooked teeth.
When there is not enough room in the mouth for all of your teeth, they tend to grow in crooked. Some teeth just grow in crooked, regardless, but this is rarer. If you only have one or two crooked teeth, correcting the appearance of them using dental veneers is easy. However, if you are dealing with a mouth full of crooked teeth, Invisalign® is going to be your best option.
#2 Overbite
An overbite can be caused by the position of your teeth or how your jaw actually comes together. If your bite issues are teeth related, we can solve them using Invisalign®. If your overbite is jaw related, you may need to have jaw surgery but we can make a recommendation for that after thoroughly examining you in our Englewood, NJ orthodontics office.
Our Orthodontics Solutions Include:
- Extractions. If you are suffering from crowding and spacing of teeth, you may need to have some extractions to make more room in your mouth. Even if you have seriously crooked teeth, you may need to have one or two extractions to create room for them to straighten out. This is a fairly common problem as both children and adults can have more teeth than what will fit in the current size of their palate.
- Veneers. A fast way to make teeth appear straighter is to have veneers placed on top of them. A thin porcelain shell, a veneer is bonded to the surface of a tooth, changing how it appears in the process. A veneer can be used to make crooked teeth appear to be straighter. It can also be used to correct the crowding and spacing of teeth since once a tooth is extracted, gaps will need to be closed between the remaining ones.
- Invisalign®. An overbite is often caused by the position of the teeth. Invisalign® can move your teeth from where they are today to the position that they should have been in all along. In this way, Invisalign® can straighten crooked teeth, eliminate an overbite and close extra spaces in between teeth. Since the Invisalign® aligners are nearly invisible, it is a convenient and easy way to improve your smile. At DeSalvo Dental, we have found that our patients love the convenience of this solution.
If you have less than perfect teeth, call (201) 244-7658 and schedule a consultation to discuss our orthodontics solutions including Invisalign®, veneers, extractions and more.
